Bring the forest with you wherever you roam. I adore trees, and I find myself constantly looking for new ways to represent trees, leaves, twigs, and such out of metal. The leaves of this one-of a kind beauty are made by fusing (a process of controlled melting) bits of sterling silver together until the tree emerges. The trunk is is loosely wrapped with several gauges of wire, and soldered. The piece is solid and sturdy, and although the pin attachments are sterling silver, the pinstem itself is nickel silver for hardness and durability. The tree brooch has been treated with liver of sulfur to darken the background and add depth to the piece, giving areas of the tree a jewel-toned iridescent glow.
