A rectangle of sterling silver is embellished with a mix of metals including brass, copper, and silver. A bezel-set onyx oval balances the abstract embellishment, and the whole piece is finished with liver of sulfur to oxidize the surface with a lightly colored patina. The back is signed and dated, and has a standard 3-part pin set. The brooch is 2-1[2" (6.6cm) long by 3[4" (1.8cm) wide. It's easy for this piece to double as a pendant, because the pin back is set high enough for the center for balance to keep the pin oriented in the right direction.
